Bryan Tewell Hughes combines ethereal Electronica with organic and acoustic elements to produce lush, detailed, enigmatic pieces. As a composer, musician, and audio craftsman, Hughes’ vision is rich, attention-grabbing, and original; AeTopus albums are not mere collections of individual songs - they are flowing, thematic works of sonic art through which universal themes gently emerge with abstraction and sophistication.

Angels and Machines (2013, 12Ton Productions) is a 28-minute, 5-track EP that, despite its short run time, earned a nomination in the 2013 ZMR Music Awards "Best Electronic" album category. Some of the tracks were originally composed for the 2012 Between Empires CD, but were deemed too dark and somber for inclusion. This seemed the perfect opportunity for the production of a specialty disc.

Track 1, "Angels and Machines I", revisits a song from Bryan's 1999 Industrial release "AnthroPile: Take", and Track 2, "Reflecting in the Glass (A&M Mix)" is a refined version of the track found on the 2002 Memories of the Elder CD. Featuring moody orchestration and vocals by Seattle metal-opera performer Vivian Lee, Angels and Machines is a rare collage of techno-goth, dark ambient, and steampunk sensibilities.
